Flash Drive Storage System (FDSS) consists of two primary components:
1. The Hang‑Tag Component
Features an end slot opening leading to an inner cavity that holds a label insert.
The user writes on the front of the information sheet a name for the flash drive
The user then unfolds the sheet of paper and can write down the files or the information stored on the drive
A side display window allows the label to be read without removing the tag.
A protector piece shields the label from damage.
Attachment holes allow the tag to be secured to flash drives, tools, devices, or other small objects.
The paper sheet is held in place by a key ring – preventing the paper from slipping out
2. The Storage Case
A compact case with an open internal space sized to hold the tagged item.
Includes a case label that matches the hang‑tag label, creating a synchronized identification system.
Enables rapid scanning and retrieval in high‑volume environments.
A small piece of Velcro can be attached to the back of the tag to minimize movement of the tag while it is stored in the case.
The case is the same size as a cassette tape case and can be stored in a case similar to a music cassette storage case or tower.

Inventor Highlight
Mr. Stanley Mitchell is a 68 year old retired former autoworker and metal fabricator. He worked almost 20 years as a metal fabricator and 23 years at General Motors as an autoworker and mobile equipment operator. He is also an A+ Certified Computer Technician.
He first came up with the idea of the FDSS in approximately 2013 after becoming frustrated with having to plug in multiple flash drives before he could find the one that he was looking for. He noticed that almost all flash drives had a hole for a lanyard and came up with the idea to attach a tag with a piece of string. He perfected the idea and made a drawing.
One of his coworkers mentioned that he had used a 3D printer at a public library to make some parts, so he did some research and found out how to use the printer and software to transfer his drawing to a 3D format. Then he went to the library and printed a prototype.
Later he contacted a patent attorney and got his first patent.
