The Storage Compartment for Vehicle Roof Panels™ is a newly patented technology available for licensing. There are between 3 to 4 million Jeep Wranglers currently on the road in the United States, with an additional 600,000+ being sold annually. Jeeps represent an adventurous lifestyle and tight-knit community of outdoorsman. One of the greatest joys of off-roading in a Jeep is experiencing the open air with the top panels removed, allowing you to be one with nature throughout your entire journey. Unfortunately, there is not a convenient way to store those panels without taking up packing space for camping gear, coolers, and other supplies.
The Storage Compartment™ was born during Terry Wilson’s summers roaming in Wyoming, searching for grizzly bears, moose, buffalo, and elk to photograph for her wildlife photography business, Changing Focus Photography. She needed to take her Jeep Wrangler offroad into the wilderness for this endeavor, often desiring to keep the top open to the fresh mountain air. Because rainstorms would blow in throughout the day, Terry was faced with the dilemma of what to do with her detached roof panels, as she needed them with her to protect her from the elements, but also needed plenty of cargo space for her camera equipment. This product evolved from her creative problem-solving abilities combined with the skills of a local welder to build a working prototype. Now, virtually every Jeep owner who sees the Storage Compartment™ in use wants one for themselves!

The Storage Compartment™ is an innovative, vehicle-mounted storage solution designed specifically for removable roof panels. Engineered to maximize interior cargo space while providing quick access to roof panels whenever needed, this lightweight yet durable product allows drivers to safely transport and store roof panels on the exterior of their vehicle without sacrificing passenger comfort or storage capacity.
A protective storage cradle securely holds the roof panels on the exterior of the vehicle. The cradle features a reinforced open-top design with padded interior surfaces that help prevent scratches, dents, and other damage during transport. Integrated airflow openings promote ventilation and reduce moisture accumulation, helping to keep stored panels clean and dry.
The cradle is supported by adjustable mounting slats that attach firmly to the vehicle's side window area. A specialized upper clamp engages the top edge of the window frame, while a lower support bracket hooks beneath the lower window edge, creating a stable and removable mounting system. This dual point attachment design provides exceptional security while allowing installation and removal without permanent vehicle modifications. To accommodate different vehicle configurations, the cradle position can be adjusted along the length of the mounting slats. This flexibility enables proper clearance around fenders and body panels, making the system compatible with a wide range of vehicles equipped with removable roof panels. Once the roof panel is placed within the cradle, integrated securing loops provide anchor points for straps or bungee cords, ensuring the panel remains firmly positioned during travel. Optional protective covers and wind deflectors can be added to enhance aerodynamics and shield the roof panel from road debris and weather exposure.

Inventor Highlight
Terry Wilson is a former prosecutor and well-known keynote speaker who has spent over a decade in the mental health community after her first husband’s death from ALS. She has authored three books. In recent years, she has dedicated her time to running Changing Focus Photography, which she founded to provide a means to donate wildlife photography to worthy causes in the mental health and medical fields, as well as wildlife conservation organizations. Her mission through the company is to help people struggling with mental health issues “change focus” and experience joy. She is also the director of The Missing Peace Foundation, a charitable fund used to support causes in mental health, wildlife conservation, and related causes. She plans to use a portion of the sale proceeds of the Storage Compartment™ to advance her work in the mental health and wildlife conservation areas through charitable initiatives.
